Having an area of about 2 million hectares, this is one of the largest tracts of temperate rainforest left in the world. From its name, one can imagine that there live bears in the rainforest. Not only bears, but also thousands of species of plants, more than 300 species of birds and animals live in this lush rainforest. Standing 1,000-year-old cedar and 90-metre tall Sitka spruce trees are common in the forest. The biological abundance and diversity of this rainforest is the result of over 10,000 years of evolution and very little human disturbances.
